What is Epoxy Hardener?
Epoxy is a two-component product based on epoxy resin. Epoxy resin requires a hardener, the second component, to cure and has over 300 different applications. Raw epoxy resin is formulated for each intended use, and to cure the formulated resin, the specific hardener for that resin must be used. The epoxy hardeners produced by Mandana Polymer, with codes such as Hardener 2291, 2239, 2225, 2260 HBA, are available in the market. If the wrong hardener is used, the epoxy resin may not dry and remain soft permanently. The hardener reacts with oxygen to harden and gel over time, which is why the container lid must be tightly closed after each use to prevent exposure to air and moisture. It is recommended that the workspace with hardener use have proper ventilation.
How to Use Epoxy Hardener?
Step 1: Preparation
The amount of hardener used depends on the mixing ratio of resin and hardener. Before using the hardener, the epoxy resin should be mixed for 2 to 3 minutes using a clean mixer.
Step 2: Application Method
Add the recommended amount of epoxy hardener (based on the mixing ratio) to the epoxy resin. After accurately weighing the resin and hardener, mix the two components gently for 3 minutes.
Allow the resin and hardener mixture to rest for 3 to 5 minutes to release any air bubbles formed during mixing.
Apply the resin and hardener mixture to the desired surface.
The resin will be dry 24 hours after mixing with the hardener.
Conditions for Applying Epoxy Hardener
The ideal mixing temperature for resin and hardener is between 20°C and 30°C.
