What is Antibacterial Epoxy Flooring?
Antibacterial flooring is an innovative product in the construction industry. Controlling hospital infections is one of the major challenges for medical centers. One of the effective ways to reduce the spread of infections is choosing antibacterial flooring. This flooring prevents the growth of bacteria, mold, fungi, and other microorganisms on its surface. Due to its special additives, it offers high resistance to abrasion, chemicals, water, bacteria, and viruses.
Antibacterial flooring is seamless and continuous, eliminating spaces for insects to breed. It is a hygienic flooring option that can be installed on various surfaces, including concrete. It has excellent adhesion to stone, ceramic, mosaic, and concrete floors. Mandana Polymer Engineering Company is a knowledge-based and university-affiliated company that has achieved technical expertise in producing various polymeric products after years of research and development. The seamless antibacterial polymer flooring is produced in Mandana Polymer Industrial Complex for industrial, commercial, and residential applications. In addition to manufacturing products, Mandana Polymer provides specialized consulting services in epoxy flooring application and supervision.
How to Apply Antibacterial Epoxy Flooring?
Step 1: Pre-Application Inspection and Recommendations
-
The surface must be thoroughly cleaned and free of dust, water, or any moisture.
-
If the surface is oily, it should be washed with a degreasing solution and dried before application.
-
The tools and containers used for mixing must be completely clean and free from contaminants.
-
The materials should be placed at the project site one day before application.
Step 2: Ensuring Proper Temperature for Application
-
Before application, measure the surface and material temperatures using a digital thermometer.
-
The surface temperature should be between 20°C and 30°C during application. If outside this range, contact Mandana Polymer’s technical unit.
-
Surface temperature should be measured with a laser thermometer, as room temperature may differ significantly from actual surface temperature.
Step 3: Surface Preparation
-
Self-leveling epoxy is applied over a surface where EF10 primer and EF20 undercoat have already been applied.
-
The epoxy layer must be applied within the recommended time intervals between layers.
Antibacterial Epoxy Flooring Application Process
-
Materials Used:
-
Required Tools:
-
Application Steps:
-
Floor leveling and preparation through grinding or appropriate surface treatment (according to relevant instructions).
-
Chemical washing of oily and greasy surfaces using OP30 degreasing solution.
-
Application of primer with EF10-2260 Hardener according to primer application instructions to enhance adhesion, remove dust effects, and neutralize concrete vapors.
-
Sealing cracks and voids with specialized fillers to repair damaged and cracked structures.
-
Application of undercoat with EF20-2225 Hardener following the undercoat application guidelines.
-
Sanding and correcting defects in the undercoat layer.
-
Application of antibacterial epoxy topcoat with EF33 Hardener: Before adding the hardener, stir the epoxy resin gently and continuously for 2 minutes. After adding the hardener, mix for 3 minutes, and allow 1 to 5 minutes of rest before application.
-
Important Notes:
-
Adding too much or too little hardener, even by 10 grams, will compromise the final result.
-
All measurements must be precisely weighed using an industrial-grade scale.
-
Avoid mixing more resin and hardener than necessary.
